For the Experienced professionalAdvanced Course
Stay effective. Stay connected. Stay human.
By now, you've seen things most people never will.
You've developed confidence, experience and the ability to perform under pressure. But over time, the cumulative effects of trauma, operational stress and repeated exposure can begin to shape the way you think, feel and relate to the people around you.
Advanced is designed for experienced first responders who want to better understand these changes and develop practical skills to support their wellbeing, relationships and long-term career sustainability.
Because experience shouldn't come at the expense of the person behind the uniform.
-
Module 1 | Understanding Trauma
Build on your understanding of trauma by exploring how cumulative exposure shapes the brain, body and nervous system over time, and why these changes are adaptive rather than signs of weakness.
Module 2 | Understanding PTSD
Take a deeper look at PTSD, including risk factors, symptoms, treatment and recovery. Learn how to recognise the difference between normal operational responses and when additional support may be needed.
Module 3 | Coping with Anger
Understand why anger is such a common response in first responders and learn practical strategies to recognise, regulate and respond to anger before it begins affecting your work, relationships or wellbeing.
Module 4 | Navigating Emotions
Explore the role emotions play in operational work and why learning to recognise, tolerate and regulate them is essential for both effective performance and meaningful relationships.
Module 5 | The Role of Thinking
Discover how our thoughts influence emotions and behaviour. Learn practical cognitive strategies to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and respond more flexibly under pressure.
Module 6 | Communication
Strengthen one of the most important protective factors in any first responder career—healthy relationships. Learn practical communication skills that improve connection with colleagues, partners, family and friends.
